Frequently Asked Questions

Question:  If I’m TDY to School do I have to pay for my room?  It depends.  Many classes are funded locally, some are not.  Your travel orders should indicate who is funding your visit.  We recommend you use your government travel card if at all possible.  Your personal debit card could be charged on arrival and that may cause you an inconvenience.

Question:  What if I know I’m going to be a late arrival?  Guests who will be arriving after 1800 must guarantee their reservation with a valid credit card.

Question:  Can I just show up at Fort McCoy and get a lodging room today?  Yes you can, however this is not recommended.  All same day reservations, regardless of reason for visit may require that you be placed on a waiting list until 1800.  After 1800 all unconfirmed reservations are cancelled and those rooms become available.

Question:  What is there to do in the Fort McCoy area during my free time? There is bowling, paintball, mini golf, disc golf, laser tag, fitness activities, skiing, snow tubing, fishing plus much more...available right on Fort McCoy.  Also, shopping centers, movie theatres, golfing, bike trails, and snowmobile trails are available within 20 miles of Fort McCoy. There are 2 casinos and canoeing within 50 miles of Fort McCoy.

Question: Where can you eat at Fort McCoy?  McCoy's Community Club has a Primo's Express and Habanero quick serve restaurant located inside.

Question: Where and when can I go to worship services at Fort McCoy?  Please call the Chapel Center at (608) 388-3528 for service information.
