The Fort McCoy Child Development Center (CDC) strives to meet the individual and developmental needs of the whole child by providing a safe and nurturing learning environment that fosters each childs physical, social, emotional, cognitive and creative development. To support this commitment the CDC is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and certified annually by the Department of Defense.

We encourage all parents to participate in the program and believe that the success of the program is dependent on parent involvement with their child in a CYSS setting.

CDC Curriculum
Fort McCoy uses the Creative Curriculum throughout the CDC program. The main components to this program include developmentally appropriate learning centers, group time, project and ongoing assessment. The classroom teachers are involved with children in the Creative Curriculum where they observe the children for signs of developmental milestones which are recorded on the Creative Curriculum developmental continuum. This allows teachers to get to know each child, to use what they learn to plan for each child in the group, to track each child's progress and to improve the program. It also provides the sharing of information with the families since the Child Progress and Planning Report is completed and shown to parents during conferences so the Families are involved in planning for their child.
Features
Lesson plans and curriculum based on individual child's needs. Open-door policy. Parents are invited to come and visit anytime during the day. Field trips are planned for our older groups. All children go for walks and visit various areas of the Fort McCoy Community.

Fees
All fees are based on total Family income. Children must be registered in Parent Central Services before care is provided at the center. For information on enrollment and the fee schedule please click here.

Programs Offered

Full-day care for children 6 weeks to 5 years (not yet in Kindergarten). Children will be placed in classroom according to age.
Hourly care children 6 weeks to 5 years, based on space availability. Reservations can be made up to 2 weeks in advance.
Strong Beginnings 4K is a program is designed to prepare pre-kindergartners for kindergarten. It focuses on classroom management skills, as well math and literacy. Children must turn 4 years old on or before Sep 1. The Strong Beginnings class is from 8:30 – 11:30 am with wrap around care available.

A few of our objectives include:

Learning Environment - indoor and outdoor learning to encourage play and exploration.

Creative - to promote children to use their imagination and provide activities that encourage the use of the five senses.

Social - to provide an environmental experience to help children develop social skills, feelings, and respect for others.

Child Nutrition Program

Meals are provided as part of the fee (breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack).

We dine in a Family-style setting where children are encouraged to serve themselves and help clean up. Self-reliance skills are taught.
We participate in the US Dept. of Agriculture Child Nutrition Program. Our pre-approved menus comply with USDA meal requirements.
USDA supplies nutrition guidance, educational materials and a financial reimbursement.
