Fort McCoy Sportsman's Range

Ranges Available:
Rifle Range: 50, 100 & 200 meters
Pistol Range: up to 50 meters
Combination Trap and Skeet Shotgun Range
3-D Archery Range
Elevated Archery Range

Prices:
Daily Fees or Memberships are available
Daily Range Fee: $4/Military and $5/Other
Trap or Skeet Fee: $3.50 per round

Annual Memberships:  $50/Military and $60/Other - Each Family Member $25 additional.  Purchase Memberships at Pine View Campground, (please allow time for a photo).  Call 608-388-3517 or 800-531-4703 for additional information.

Group Reservations:  Are accepted during closed hours of operation.  Range fees for group reservation is $100.00 plus daily range fee (memberships honored) for a maximum of 3 hours.  Other groups may make reservations for the same day and price on space available bases. (Must reserve 3 days in advance).

Fort McCoy is located between Sparta and Tomah on Hwy 21.  To get to the Range, please use Gate 19 and follow the signs.
Range is open to active duty military, retired military, U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) appropriated fund and non-appropriated fund employees, retired civilian employees, DoD contractor employees working full-time at Fort McCoy identified through Department of the Army civilian identification card and their immediate Family members and guests.  * Includes Retired Military

  • Clean up all trash.
  • Remove targets and dispose of properly.
  • Return targets and stands to the range shack.
  • Ensure all guns are unloaded, cleared, and cased prior to departing the range.
  • Place all expended brass in brass collection containers provided.
  • Hearing and Eye protection is mandatory for all shooters on the range.
  • No consumption of alcohol on the range or during use of the range.
  • Guns will be pointed down range at all times.
  • Know and obey all range rules.
  • All injuries will be reported
  • Smoking on ranges is not permitted at any time.
  • In the event of bad weather, please follow rules of the Range Officer.
  • Violation and failure to comply with range rules/standards will result in loss of privileges.
  • The Range Officer will have final interpretation on all range rules and guidelines.

Pistol Rules

  • Unload all pistols during cease fire and magazines will be extracted from semi-automatic pistols.
  • There will be “No Handling of Guns” when personnel are down range.
  • No firing in front of the shooting benches without authorization.
  • Only authorized targets will be utilized.
  • Maximum size of ammunition is .50 caliber.

Rifle Rules

  • Automatic firing of weapons is prohibited.
  • There will be “No Handling of Guns” when personnel are down range.

Skeet & Trap Rules

  • When trap houses are being attended (reloading skeet machines etc) shooters will unload their guns and have action open.
  • Shotguns no smaller than .410 gauges or larger than 12 gauges may be used on the skeet and trap range.
  • Shot no larger than #7 ½ is allowed. Slugs are prohibited.
  • Skeet and Trap will not be conducted simultaneously.
