Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Training
(ADAPT)


The purpose of the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Training (ADAPT) is to provide the opportunity through education and awareness to intervene with identified soldiers who have exhibited high-risk substance abuse behaviors.
Objectives: ADAPT is a twelve hour course that attempts to accomplish the following:
· To increase participants factual knowledge about substance abuse.
· To educate participants about impaired driving.
· To understand the negative impact substance abuse has on Family members, friends and others.
· To reduce the potential for high-risk behaviors through enhancement and strengthening of individual life skills.

ADAPT is a requirement for all soldiers who are involved in an alcohol related incident on the installation, who test positive for an illicit drug during urinalysis, or who self-refer for alcohol or drug dependency. Commanders may refer soldiers to ADAPT on a case by case basis independent of the requirements above.
