The purpose of the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention
Training (ADAPT) is to provide the opportunity through education and awareness
to intervene with identified soldiers who have exhibited high-risk substance
abuse behaviors.
Objectives: ADAPT is a
twelve hour course that attempts to accomplish the following:
· To increase
participants factual knowledge about substance abuse.
· To educate
participants about impaired driving.
· To understand the
negative impact substance abuse has on Family members, friends and others.
· To reduce the
potential for high-risk behaviors through enhancement and strengthening of
individual life skills.
ADAPT is a requirement for all soldiers who are involved in an alcohol related incident on the installation, who test positive for an illicit drug during urinalysis, or who self-refer for alcohol or drug dependency. Commanders may refer soldiers to ADAPT on a case by case basis independent of the requirements above.
