National Fatherhood Initiative
The National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI) was founded in 1994 to lead a society-wide movement to confront the problem of father absence. NFI's mission is to improve the well-being of children by increasing the proportion of children growing up with involved, responsible, and committed fathers.

Healthy Parenting
The Healthy Parenting Initiative provides resources for parents and professionals dealing with the unique challenges of balancing family and military life while serving on active duty in the United States Armed Forces.

New Parent Education
First Steps Program providing education and information for expecting parents and parents of newborns.  The program is open to all Active Military assigned to Fort McCoy and having duty within a 35 mile radius of Fort McCoy.

First Steps offers information on pre & post-natal care, parenting tips, educational materials, community resources and other topics helpful in parenting and during pregnancy.  Even if this is not your first baby, you will find this information very useful.  Staff is available during your pregnancy and after delivery if you have questions or just want someone to talk to who really understands the big changes in your life.  After the birth of your baby we will deliver to you a Welcome Baby Basket put together especially for your family.

To register you can stop by the Army Community Service Office, located in the Welcome Center at 2111 S. 8th Ave., call 388-3505 or send an email to Army Community Service. 

Expecting Parents
Operation Special Delivery, a program for military families with a deployed service member who are expecting a child and the partner will be unable to return for the birth.

MISSION STATEMENT: To provide, free of charge, Labor Doula Support to the pregnant wives of the U.S. Military members that have been deployed as a direct result of September 11th and are subsequently taking part in Operation Enduring Freedom. We will also provide, free of charge, Labor Doula Support to the pregnant wives of the U.S. Military members that have become widowed as a direct result of September 11th or Operation Enduring Freedom.
